Village Shop

Introduction

With funding from the Community Land Unit the local shop that has been closed since 2008 is now in community hands. The next stage will be to raise fund for the refurbishment / rebuild. It will operate as a Trading arm to the Community Co.

Scope

A structural survey has now been carried out (Nov ’21) work can now begin to seriously consider the design and facilities that the building will provide. Community consultations will consider layout and structure design. The purchase has also included acquiring land in front of the existing building running up to the main road. At present we are considering a retail facility (basic foodstuffs), take away, “rentaspace’ facility for local artists and crafters to sell produce, and a local archive. Parking will allow spaces for cars, tour buses and campervans. A campervan service unit will provide facilities for off loading black water, taking on clean water and recharging batteries.

UPDATE: Edinbane Shop Development Public exhibition and meeting on Thursday 15th June
